Fitting in some self-care is a tricky juggle. It’s one of those things in motherhood that’s constantly pushed down the list. But it’s actually vital to our health and wellbeing. As I always say, you can’t serve from an empty cup.
One of the easiest ways to increase your chances of fitting in some self-care, is to have your very own self-care box and today I’m sharing with you some of my favourite items to fill your box with.
Booja Booja Champagne Truffles -I’m a firm believer of feeding yourself with the best you can afford and these truffles are incredible. They are gluten and dairy free which is a plus.
Moisture Bomb Face Mask Sheet - Booking in a full facial can be tricky, but grabbing 10 minutes for a face mask is much more doable. Mask sheet are even better because there is much less mess when taking them off.
Facial Roller - these have been growing in popularity over the last few months, but many people still just laugh them off. I’ve been using mine for a few months now. Morning and night. And I love it. Use it after your serum or moisturiser in upward motion on the face and downward on the neck. Not only is it a night little massage for the face but it can reduce puffiness, fine lines and fluid retention. Help you skin glow and you to look less tired.
Spa socks - I’m not happy unless my feet are happy. Try putting a spring in your step with some super comfy spa socks. Okay so its not quite as good as going to the spa, but when you are charing round the house to get things done at least your feet can feel relaxed and cared for.
Microwave Wheat Bag - Even when you haven’t got any aches and pains, snuggling up with a heat bag can be a real treat. I love an unscented version that you can then add a few drops of your own oil to. Snuggle it on the sofa or pop it to bed 30 minutes before you join it for an extra aaaahhhh factor.
Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate - I use this as a night time oil. It smells incredible and keeps my skin plump and nourished. Put it on before use the facial roller and it’s like a spa treatment in itself. I’m not the best when it come to skin care and this magical oil is a real skin saver.
Aromatherapy Associates Inner Strength Bath And Shower Oil - Self-care doesn’t have to wait until the end of the day. Trying kicking off the morning with something a little special and watch the quality of your productivity sore. I personally can’t do morning baths (unless I’m ill or injured), but splash this oil in your hand and rub over your body starting at your chest, so it get the most an avoiding the neck and face, before you get the shower. Happy skin and the smell is heaven. It’s sets you up ready to rock’n’roll.
Girl, Wash Your Face - I think this book should be taught in schools. Every female over the age of 13 needs to read it. But whatever you read self-care starts in the mind. Choose books that feed the soul, calm the mind or bring you joy. There’s no point reading the latest best seller if you are not enjoying it and there’s no point finishing a book just because you started it. I like to read from an actual book once a day (some days it’s just a page), but with so many books on my wish list I prefer audiobooks and use audible to get through the majority of them. If your look for a new book I would highly recommend starting with Girl, Wash Your Face By Rachel Hollis (her novels are also lovely, fun reads, great for before bed), but there’s also a whole host of recommendations on the page bookshelf on our website www.supermumsociety.com/bookshelf.

I hope you dive straight into a little bit of self-care today, because let’s not forget, you can’t serve from an empty cup.
