Making Fitness a Habit you Can’t ignore

Let’s face it, some love it, some don’t. Not everyone is born into a life full of adventure, sports, health and happiness. We have to accept that our start in life is often moulded by our parent's habits and lifestyle. Then the people and environment we choose to spend our time with.


We pick up good habits but plenty of bad too. We can blame others for the way we feel, eat, behave, perform, move, react, but at the end of the day as an adult (hopefully) making our own decisions now, you are in charge and you are in control of the choices you make, you have to be accountable to yourself and decide how you want life to pan out.

If we are not prioritising and creating time for our health and wellbeing, working towards building and strong and resilient body and mind… how can we expect to live ‘our best lives’, inspire our kids, be a positive influence, work hard, become a successful business leader, or simply be a happy and healthy super mummy?

We all have different lives, we all seem to be busier than ever doing ‘stuff’. No time for this or no time for that, maybe because your job ‘demands’ so much of you, you have kids that you want to care for and provide for etc.. then what often seems to fall to the back of the priority list is your fitness, with the thought of getting to a gym or yoga class going completely out the window.


I’ve been a rugby player, ending up with a pretty beat up body, I then let stress and unnecessary pressure consume me, leading to deep depressive states that leave you pretty unmotivated. I put on a load of weight and lost my way (a few times). It wasn't until I started to introduce short daily rituals to fit around my ‘busy’ life that the mindset shift started and I found something that worked for me.

Setting big goals and wanting short term fixes are not solid foundations, to begin with, this is a longterm, lifetime, lifestyle mission that starts with small steps and a mindful approach to how you live each day, one day at a time, one new habit at a time. Whatever your mission, losing weight, feeling more positive, being strong or simply being able to be active with your kids…it starts with making the decision that you can do it and it’s a journey worth going (for life).


Now a yoga teacher, breathwork practitioner and lifestyle performance coach, I’ve seen these small changes become life-changing habits for so many of my clients and students.

Now with the support and power of online fitness apps like @fiit, I’m able to share my workouts and practices along with a host of other great trainers, so you can get access at any time, anywhere you are, to fit into the busiest of days. With classes currently running as short as 20 minutes to 45 minutes, from complete beginners to the more challenging advanced, allowing you to choose and have all the control.
