5 Signs Your Mental Health Is Struggling

A lot of us don’t realise when we are suffering from mental health problems. It means the problems worsen and we don’t get the help we need until we have fallen into a deep depression or are suffering from severe anxiety. But it’s so important to watch out for signs that your mental health is spiralling. That way, you can talk to someone and get the help you need sooner than later. And it’s also a good idea to watch out for these signs in your loved ones. That way, you can identify if they need help. Here are five signs your mental health is struggling.

Struggle sleeping

While lack of sleep is common with a lot of people, if you are constantly finding you have sleepless nights, it could be a sign of a deeper problem. After all, your mind might be struggling to shut down when you head to the land of slumber. But not getting those all-important forty winks will affect your happiness levels and could cause you slipping further into mental health issues. Therefore, try to work on why you can’t sleep and try to find methods which will help you fall into a deep slumber (bath, book and warming drink are often good ideas).

Not functioning properly

Another sign your mental health is struggling is if you are not functioning properly in your daily life. It might be the case you are finding it hard to make decisions. When presented with a problem, you will find it hard to solve it, even when it’s a simple decision to make. This is because your stress levels might be at an all-time high, so its causing your brain not to work correctly. You might also find your work starts to suffer if your mental health is struggling. Therefore, if it is affecting you in this way, it’s time to get some help.

Mood worsening

We all have off days. But if your off day is turning into every day, it’s a sure sign that your mental health is struggling. You might find that you are in a bad mood when you wake up and you can’t shift it throughout the day. Your mood might worsen over time and you can’t do anything to pick-me-up. When this happens and it’s affecting your life, it’s time to work on your mental health.

Anxious

It’s normal to stress and worry about troublesome times in our lives. It helps us to strive to work hard and make good decisions. But if you are finding that anxiety is taking over your life, it’s not normal. You might find you stress out about even the happiest things occurring in your life and are becoming quite down in the dumps.

Retreating from others

Another sign your mental health is struggling is if you are retreating from others. While we enjoy a night in, if you find you are cancelling your friends and family, it’s a sign that something is wrong. You are isolating yourself and becoming house bound if you are not spending any time with your loved ones. Therefore, take steps to work out why this is happening and what you can do to improve your mental health.
